HONOKAA — The Trail Running Film Festival, the premier film festival for trail running enthusiasts and film lovers, is back on tour and promises to be a thrilling showcase of the best trail running films from around the world.

Scheduled to take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, at the historic Honokaa People’s Theatre, this year’s festival will feature a two-hour selection of films that celebrate the spirit of trail running.

From epic mountain runs to urban odysseys, these films capture the raw beauty and challenge of the sport and tell stories from around the world by filmmakers sharing their work of adventure, inclusivity, wilderness, art and diversity across the trail and ultra community.

These short films are for anyone drawn to the tenacity and beauty of the human spirit, not only trail runners and outdoor enthusiasts.

“Trail running brings people together. The dirt and sun and mud we experience together over long, playful days on the trail unearth qualities within us that transcend our perceived differences,” said Michelle Suber of Iris Integrative Health. “We feel these films do a fantastic job of capturing that and were inspired to share it with our community.”

Tickets for The Trail Running Film Fest 2023 are $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and $5 for children 12 and under. Doors open at 4:45 p.m.

Patrons are encouraged to purchase advance tickets online at https://tinyurl.com/yseafa2v.

In addition to the films, there will be a group run with Hawaii Mountain Running and Alyx Barnett prior to the screening. The run will take place at Kalopa State Park — meet near the bunkhouses — and begins at 1 p.m. All levels of runners are welcome.

This event is presented by Michelle Suber and Buzz Hollander of Iris Integrative Health.

Honokaa People’s Theatre is located at 45-3574 Mamane St. in Honokaa.
